What is CrossUpload?
CrossUpload is an embeddable file picker for website forms. Visitors can choose a file on the current device or scan a QR code to upload directly from their phone; the file appears in the original form automatically.
Do my visitors need an account or an app?
No. Visitors never create a CrossUpload account and never install an app. The phone side is a normal web page.
Who pays for CrossUpload?
Website owners and developers subscribe. Their visitors use it for free and never see pricing or upgrade prompts.
Does the file go through my server?
Not in the preferred integration. Files go directly from the visitor’s browser to private storage; your server receives file IDs and fetches temporary URLs when it needs them.
Will it work with my existing upload backend?
If your backend only accepts multipart file uploads, it needs a small change (or an adapter) to accept CrossUpload file IDs. In companion mode your existing local file input keeps working unchanged.
What counts as an upload on my plan?
Only accepted files. Opening the picker, showing or scanning a QR code, retries, rejected files and failed transfers do not count. Three accepted files count as three.
How long are files kept?
Retention depends on your plan (7 to 180 days) and project settings. Each file reports its exact expiresAt. Files are deleted after that — export anything you need to keep.
Are files scanned for malware?
Yes. Files are checked for size and real content type and scanned with ClamAV before they are marked ready. If scanning is unavailable, files wait; they are never silently accepted.
Is there a hard bandwidth cap?
Delivery traffic is a budget, not an exact real-time cap: CDN logs are delayed and best effort. We keep URL lifetimes short, show measured usage with a timestamp, and bill a fixed subscription in V1 rather than surprise overage charges.
Which languages are supported?
The widget and phone page ship with English and Turkish.
Where is CrossUpload built?
CrossUpload is built in the United Arab Emirates.
How do I contact you?
Email master@crossupload.com.
Does the visitor need to install an app?
No. The QR code opens a normal web page in the phone’s browser.
Can someone else use the QR code?
The QR pairs exactly one phone and expires after a few minutes. Once redeemed it cannot pair another device, and it never grants access to other files or to your account.
What if the QR code expires?
The modal shows “QR code expired. Refresh.” and the visitor can generate a new one with one click while the upload window is open.
Does it work with React, Vue or plain HTML?
Yes. The SDK is plain JavaScript and attaches to a DOM element, so it works inside any framework or none.
Will it submit my form?
Never. It fills a hidden field and fires events; your visitor still submits the form.
How big is the SDK?
It is a single small file with no dependencies, served from a versioned URL.
Which file types are supported?
PDF, JPEG, PNG, HEIC/HEIF, WebP, GIF, DOCX, XLSX, TXT and CSV in V1. Projects can narrow the list.
Do you convert or compress files?
No. Files are stored exactly as uploaded. We do not silently convert formats.
Can I keep files forever?
No. Retention is part of the contract and the price. Copy files into your own storage if you must keep them longer — see the files and retention guide.
Is there an OpenAPI spec?
Yes — /openapi.yaml describes the implemented endpoints.
What does my server receive?
A list of file IDs. Fetch metadata and temporary URLs from the API using your secret key.
